These sarees are produced by using 60s fine quality cotton yarn in attractive popular colours of earthly reds, browns oranges and greens with thread work borders incorporating traditional motifs using Dobby machines. Chettinadu cotton sarees are also best known as ‘Kandangi sarees’.The traditional Chettinadu sarees are woven with checked designs in the body portion of the saree. The uniqueness of the Chettinadu sarees are that these sarees are thicker in texture and colour fast due to use of good quality of water available in and around Karaikudi area.
